Arts festival the best yet
Published: 4 June 2010
• READERS may be interested to know about the upcoming Holloway Arts Festival, bringing 11 days of art, comedy, poetry, music, theatre and crafts to Islington.
The festival is produced by Rowan Arts, an arts charity based in Archway, which is committed to providing free or low-priced entertainment.
The festival is now in its eighth year and will run from Thursday, June 24, to Sunday, July 4. This year promises to be the biggest and the best yet so should have something to suit all ages and tastes.
We are really excited about the number of high-profile acts involved, including rock band The Popes, poet Wendy Cope, artist Grayson Perry, comedian Paul Lyalls, performer John Hegley and author Anthony Horowitz.
There will be many opportunities to support local creative talent, to learn new skills at workshops and even the chance to perform in front of a large audience.
The festival will culminate with the Big Day Out, a free, family-friendly outdoor day at Whittington Park, an extravaganza of arts, crafts, music, food and theatre.
Details of all the events are available at www.hollowayartsfestival.co.uk
This is the first year I have worked with Rowan Arts but, having been born and raised in Holloway, I am really looking forward to enjoying all the events with as many other residents as possible.
