Arlington success

• I WANT to add my congratulations to One Housing for the achievement of recreating Arlington House as a
21st- century centre for the homeless.

You reported Keith Bird’s criticism that key Labour champions weren’t credited.

Of course, they should share in the reflected glory but as housing exec for the past four years, I would point out that the Lib Dems deserve credit too, particularly keeping the show on the road when the Novas scheme collapsed due to disappearance of key funding.

We were very grateful for excellent officer support in the council, in government and at One in creating the rescue package which saved Arlington.

I hope this will be recognised as a cross-party victory, where what matters most of all is the success of the new centre itself.
