Road on the Heath adds risk

Published: 8 July, 2010

• I SUPPOSE it was inevitable that the City of London would be trying again after its defeat, but I want to add my name to those opposed to its proposed new road.

The City’s new report says that “there is a serious risk of an accident if cars and trucks continue to use the Highgate Road entrance”.

There are three entrances to the Heath from Highgate Road, two for walkers and one for mixed use.

Gospel Oak has only one entrance for everyone.

This entrance on Gordon House Road is right next to a narrowing of the road by the railway bridges and directly opposite it is Murphy’s building yard.

The road gets extremely congested at times, so it seems to me that there will be an extra “serious risk of accident” if this plan goes ahead.
