Public prosecutor is brought to book on grammar

Published: 15 July, 2010

• I READ the article on  Keir Starmer, the Director of Public Prosecution’s visit to Holy Trinity Primary School in Finchley Road, Hampstead.

I was surprised to read that he said: “Me and my wife have a little boy, and at the end of the day she’s much more tired than me.”

It is usual to put “My wife and I”, putting the other person first, and it is considered correct use of the language.

Mr Starmer was speaking to young children who hopefully are being taught the correct grammar.Or am I being pedantic in this day and age?
