No option

• ON Tuesday we heard the council and its consultants present the three options currently on the table in the Abbey Area Regeneration process.

There was an overwhelming concern that the neighbourhood was going to lose much of its cohesiveness in terms of its community spirit.

Of the people at the meeting 94 per cent voted to acknowledge a clear vote of no confidence in the suitability of any of the options. Nobody wanted either of the tower block options.

It is clear the council’s regeneration team have given out a brief which inherently has an agenda to overdevelop the land and we are sure they will continue to try to do so against the wishes of so many.
