Let taxman sort it out
Published: 23 July, 2010
• HERE is something I do not understand: “big boys” or “small boys”; or “missing money” or “missing receipts” at Islington Council; or Homes for Islington (HfI); or whatever individual people are paid.
Surely, the Inland Revenue can sort it out? It has the power to go anywhere, ask any questions it wants and to get hold of any documentation it wants.
If we, the public, gave wrong information, or withheld documents or information, the relevant authorities would make sure they got hold of it. The same applies to social welfare; everything is checked out.
So if you owed a single penny, you would have to pay it back.
So, why is the council, HfI or any other institution exempt?
Let the Inland Revenue do its job, and sort it out. End of story!
