Help firms survive cuts

Published: 16 July, 2010

• WITH impending cuts within many local government departments and the news that Business Link is to be officially cut, now is the perfect time to keep business activity buoyant in Islington.

Without support agencies and organisations like Business Link there is a risk that some business owners may struggle to maintain focus on their core skills as they try to gather advice and guidance from various portals.

The British Library IP Centre, the City Business Library and Islington Chamber of Commerce are just some examples of bodies enterprising people can approach to seek guidance and undertake research.

My main concern is that businesses do not get forgotten in all the talks of cuts, cuts and more cuts.

We need to ensure all cost-saving measures are conducive to a healthy business environment and that, even without council support, which is still vital, and government quangos, businesses know they are being championed.

RONKE LAWAL
Chief executive, Islington Chamber of Commerce
