Fly decision

Published: 2 July, 2010

• THE ban on flyers is totalitarian and indefensible (June 25 front page).

A Conservative council should approve of free enterprise like this rather than trying to suppress it.

If the council has no legal power, their “commands” should be ignored.

If people don’t want to take the flyers or go to the clubs or anywhere else, no one is forcing them to. Complaints can be ignored or rejected.

While I loathe most of what Tony Benn stands for I agree with him about “democracy village” (Benn backing square protesters, June 25)

I visited the place the other day and believe that it should be left alone.

That some people, pompous politicians for instance, find it an eyesore is irrelevant.
