Concerns remain

• IN response to Councillor Joe Caluori’s letter (June 25), I want to make it clear I do not “fully support” Labour’s Fairness Commission yet.
In fact, I made it abundantly clear that I had a number of concerns about this new commission when we discussed it at the communities review committee, a meeting which Cllr Caluori attended.
I asked a number of questions about the costs to residents and the constitutional basis and membership of the commission.
Unfortunately, the Labour chair of the committee was unable to answer many of my questions.
The feeling I was left with at the end of the meeting was that Labour really hadn’t thought the whole thing through as many of my questions hadn’t even occurred to them.
I will continue to attend both the communities review scrutiny committee and the Fairness Commission, because someone needs to hold them to account.
