After the driverless train, what chance other jobs?

Published: 1 July, 2010

• DOES Councillor Johnny Bucknell (Driverless trains, Letters, June 24) think that driverless trains and the tracks maintain themselves?

He and his ilk should be careful that the United Kingdom does not end up with so few jobs that there would not be enough workers to pay tax for all the non-job people we are stuck with.

Most of those have no idea what it is like to have to work unsocial, eight-hour, shifts covering all the days of the year.

Why do people with cushy jobs want to stop others from earning?

I suppose many of the greedy “let-them-eat-cake” types will be coming out of the woodwork now.

PS: Perhaps Cllr Bucknell could tell New Journal readers what efforts he has made to prevent the payment of Camden Council chief executive Moira Gibb’s bonus (How can the Town Hall chief accept her bonus? Letters, June 24)
