Why I hope to stand

• I AM grateful for a very kind, too kind, portrait of myself and Mildmay (At 78, the Labour veteran who relishes another polls scrap, January 15).
However, my incentive to stand was to contrast myself with the two current Lib Dem councillors.
Cllr Meral Ece has been, as far as Mildmay is concerned, notably invisible and has just used us for her own advancement.
Councillor Rhodri Jamieson-Ball is little better. 
He does not live in Mildmay. He is standing as a parliamentary candidate in a hopeless seat – versus MP Jeremy Corbyn – as a rehearsal, as so many councillors do, before opting for a safe seat. 
Councillor Anna Berent has got her reward and is enjoying a year as mayor.
