What’s to stop us clearing away snow?

• DURING this cold weather, I have been amazed at the attitude of people. We know the council is useless when it comes to clearing pavements, but, without wishing to give them any credit, they can’t do everything. What has shocked me most is the fact that no one has bothered to clear outside their homes, or outside shops, or anywhere.
Not so many years ago, people at our flats cleared snow into the play area and made paths safe. And then, after moaning a bit, cleared the pavement in Percival Street. This time – zilch, nada, nothing.
I cleared the outside entrance to my flat, and some twit came out with “What are you like? The council should be doing that.” I know they should, but they don’t and his stupid comment did not stop him slipping over outside his entrance.
