Think again on A&E - Proposed closure of A&E at Whittington Hospital

AS a ward councillor, for Highgate Ward, Camden, I’d like to express my concerns about the proposals for closing down A&E at the Whittington Hospital. Proposals to take away this much-valued local service have greatly troubled local residents. None of the options put forward allows for an A&E unit in the hospital and there has been no consultation with the public on that proposal. The difficulties of getting across the Heath to the Royal Free for people in our area seem to have been given little weight.
We would like to see the trust reconsider their position. Protecting our local hospitals needs to be regarded as a non-negotiable option as the government moves to make cuts in services after its profligacy in recent years on everything from war to bankers salaries.
