A slippery slope…

• I WAS appalled to read that the council is seriously considering spending thousands of pounds sending its “events tsar” on a first-class ticket to the Winter Olympics (Olympics jolly bill snow joke, January 8).
Our Tory-dominated council has been in such a position of power for so long it seems to think it can do what it wants when it wants. Does it seriously consider it’s reasonable to spend all this money on a jolly, despite pressure on council services? They are out of touch with  real life and no cosy comforting from David Cameron can hide the fact.
The carve-up of council seats whereby the Conservatives are guaranteed the majority every time and Labour are given a few token areas to keep them happy has gone on too long.
One of the four pledges the Lib Dems have made for our campaign for the May elections is that local politics should be fair and transparent. Give us a chance to make them so.
