Research too close - 'Medical Science - a boon to all humanity'
THERE is no doubt that advances in medicine are beneficial for human beings (Medical Science is a boon to all humanity, Letters, December 31).
However, it is also apparent that nobody wants a medical research centre in their backyard.
I live right next to the disputed site. It is a brown land at the moment, and I have a nice view of St Pancras International Station from my kitchen window.
I am very much afraid that once the construction begins, we will definitely suffer from noise, dust, increased traffic and air pollution.
We do not even have double grazing in my block.
We will be deprived of sunlight once it is built, apart from having fears of activists/ terrorist attacks on it and leakage of deadly diseases.
These problems are irrelevant to people who live in leafy NW3, of course!
The residents in Somers Town (not King’s Cross) already suffered from the construction of St Pancras International Station which brought no benefits to the area.
