Park at your peril!

• BEFORE Christmas I parked on a single yellow line close to Hackney Empire after 6.30pm and came out of the theatre 70 minutes later to find my car had been towed away to a car pound in Poplar. I was not aware that dif­ferent boroughs now have different parking policies.
Readers should note not to take this risk in Hackney. It will cost them the taxi/bus ride home to get the relevant documentation to retrieve their car (dri­ving licence and proof of ownership) and then the cost to get to Poplar.
To leave the car longer than 24 hours at the car pound will incur further charges. Needless to say, I am in the process of appealing. Wish me luck!
