No to death penalty

• NATALIE Bennett of the Green Party either can’t read or she has deliberately fabricated the alleged comments I was suppose to have made in my article regarding the sad case of Akmal Shaikh in her letter (January 14).
I made it quite clear that I am against the death penalty and worked with Mr Shaikh’s supporters and the charity Reprieve to make quiet representations to the Chinese government regarding clemency. What did Ms Bennett do,  I wonder, apart from writing a letter from the comfort of her middle-class home?
I am not a career politician or a member of the chattering class but an ex-policeman who wants to build a safer, fairer and greener society for my children and I can see why the public is switched off politics if politicians all behave like our Ms Bennett.
