Letters: Muddy hell - New turf debate for Soho Square

Published: 29 January 2010

A MUD park is how Soho Square can now be described thanks to the city council’s inaction.
We business ratepayers were told new turf would be laid in October. It came and went. Another broken promise. Money, it was indicated, was the problem.
Yet, we now gallingly read they have excess money to spare on revamping the area around Westminster Cathedral (January 22). How much in rates does the cathedral pay compared with we business ratepayers in Soho? Why spend money on a church few bother to attend? What about spending money on one of the most visited parts of London: Soho. How many tourists bother to visit Victoria… pleeeease!!!!!
We all accept Victoria is not currently fitting as part of a world class city says the councillor…
Oh, and Soho with its third world, pot-holed pavements, tartan Tarmac roads, mud pool square is? World class! Soho Square. Grass now. We ratepayers demand a little of our money be spent on our environment not that surrounding a dead faith.
