Are there bonuses for ‘suits’? - Call for Mental Health Trust director of corporate and business development
IN response to the letter from June Grun in which she questioned why the Mental Health Trust needs a director of corporate and business development (December 24), I can tell her that this is a question on many employees’ lips.
However, the reality is that the foundation trust is awash with directors for this and directors for that.
Indeed the trust seems to pride itself on the number of “suits” holding impromptu meetings in the staff restaurant of the St Pancras Hospital (so much so that we poor nurses and ancillary staff can barely find a table at which to eat during our half-hour lunch break).
If growth in management had been matched in other areas of the mental health service, we would be in a far healthier place than we find ourselves now.
The sum of £3,000 (not including the £600 for one lucky participant in the staff survey) may not be a lot in scheme of things, but it could have been spent more wisely than on patronising “choccies for votes”.
This is an organisation desperate to model itself on the corporate world.
Their failed bid to take over Luton and Bedfordshire’s
mental health service is but one example of this.
How much was wasted on that bid and does the corporate and business development delusion include bonuses for “suits”?
