• IT was related, in the distant past, that a tribe in what is now central Europe, selected its “old people” to be killed and eaten.
Adopting this procedure at present might help the various politicos in their preparations for the forthcoming general election. But one commentator in a newspaper less than two years ago, suggested that “the senile have a duty to die to ease the NHS burden”.
At 86, having declined bypass surgery in 1991 (and prepaid £965 for my funeral in 1996) perhaps I’ll make it to a telegram from King William!
All aboard survived the bombing of “lucky troopship” Ranchi off north Africa in 1944, and it is hoped all will, like me, manage without care in their dotage.
