Theatre at half the West End price
Published: 18 February 2010
• WHILE I commend Katty Pearce’s excellent review (February 4) of my production of Wet Weather Cover at the King’s Head Theatre, now extended until February 28, I would like to clarify for your readers her issue with ticket prices.
The ticket price of £20 is set by the King’s Head in line with other recent productions.
It is £20 because we pay our actors and technical staff a decent wage, unlike many of your other listed fringe theatres who pay actors nothing at all – £20 is half the price of most West End venues and is not at all affected, as suggested by Ms Pearce, by the fact that Terry Gilliam attended the press night. It is a wonderful play about actors, written by an actor and directed by an actor so, understandably, will attract a few actors and directors to come and see it.
Tickets still available.
