Save A&E

Published: 25 February 2010

• I HAD a rather embarrassing football injury last year following a fall from non-existent tackle in a works five-a-side.
There followed two trips to Whittington A&E, with a combined wait of 10 hours which led to a diagnosis of a sprained ankle and a foot in plaster.
The only solace was being rescued from the hospital by my brother, the New Journal journalist Tom Foot. What was obvious about conditions at A&E was both how overworked and wonderful were the depleted staff.
The cutting of this service can only lead to an even longer wait at the Royal Free.
Now recovered I can confidently say we cannot stand for this.
