Prize for neglect
Published: 18 February 2010
• UNFORTUNATELY the local media continues to focus on the much exaggerated crime and anti-social behaviour in Gospel Oak.
It neglects to mention the very real achievements of the local schools, the community centre, the library and the play centre to name but a few.
This “give a dog a bad name” approach appears to influence the provision of council services. During the snow and ice there was virtually no gritting and no street cleaning. Now we have an ever increasing number of pot holes in the road, some of which have been there for years. Queen’s Crescent is a case in point with holes a danger to cyclists and pedestrians alike. If the council had an award for the neglected ward of the year Gospel Oak would be a strong contender.
