Obsession with Israel
Published: 25 February 2010
• I NOTICE John Gulliver seems to feels the need to write something extremely critical of Israel.
I can understand that you might sometimes wish to broaden the scope of your paper beyond the confines of Camden but why this ceaseless obsession with Israel?
Gulliver excelled himself with his account of the Holocaust survivor wheeled out to condemn Israel (Auschwitz survivor, 86, takes on the protesters, February 4).
I find it despicable that an elderly, traumatised man, who has been bamboozled by the media’s unending stream of lies about Israel into turning on his own people, should be exploited in this way.
Hamas is a proscribed terrorist organisation which calls for the total destruction of Israel. Israel does let in humanitarian aid and treats Gazans in its hospitals and despite the blockade no one is starving. According to a recent report, anti-Semitic incidents in the UK have reached an all-time high. This is partly due to the relentless demonisation of Israel by the media, including yourselves. Shame on you and Mr Gulliver.
