Long wait

• CONSERVATIVE councillor Martin Davies (No ‘race against time with issuing freedom passes, February 4) is at variance with the information from your paper and my personal experience. 

If there are about 2,500 applications still to process this is still about 400 a week before the March 31 deadline. The claim that most applications can be processed “within five days” does not tally with my experience. 

I applied, I think it was in November but no pass has arrived. Cllr Davies could, perhaps, provide reassurance to those who do not get their passes on time by guaranteeing financial compensation. Whatever he says, it was much easier to get the pass at my local post office, renewed on the spot.
