Cross about Crossrail and bus route diversions

Published: 11 February 2010

• Bus diversions are not funny.

At a public meeting on Monday night with representatives from Crossrail and Transport for London, many vocal local residents expressed their frustration and distress at the volume of buses to be rerouted day and night through Fitzrovia for the next 10 months (pictured). Noise, vibration, increased pollution, speeding vehicles and bus drivers who have still not figured out the routes they are supposed to follow are making people’s lives a misery.

While officials congratulate themselves that the diversions are running smoothly, this is at the expense of the welfare of local residents who have been ignored and are expected to bear the brunt of the whole operation.
