They say we’re all in this together... Bah! Humbug!

Published: 17 December, 2010

• IN the spirit of a jolly jape that the ex-public schoolboys might appreciate I have forwarded to Messrs Cameron, Osborne and Clegg my own poster for Charles Dickens’ Scrooge with the following in star roles: Ebenezer Scrooge, the Con-Dems; Jacob Marley, the general public; Bob Cratchit, the poor and vulnerable; the Ghosts of Christmas Present and Future, budget cuts; Tiny Tim, the Lib Dems; the Workhouse Beadle, new social housing legislation; the Undertaker, benefit cuts; Mrs Dilber, the unemployed; and the Homeless on the Streets, housing benefit cuts.

We are clearly not “all in this together”. Multi-millionaires who have (allegedly) never done a hard day’s work in their extremely comfortable lives will never understand anything.

I hope they have a merrier Christmas and a happier New Year than me (and the countless people like me).
