Owner was at fault for dog death

Published: 16 December, 2010

• I HAVE little sympathy for the owner of the dog which died in a frozen lake at Kenwood  highlighted in your story (Heroics in vain,  December 9).

The regulations for that area of Hampstead Heath clearly state that dogs should be kept on leads at all times.

If the owner had obeyed the signs and kept the dog under control, it would still be alive and the Heath workers would not have had to waste their valuable time in attempting to save it.

Will the owner now be cautioned or even prosecuted for having breached the regulations?

Keep all dogs under control.
