At last, a promise to tackle estate pavement hazards

Published: 3 December, 2010

• I WRITE to thank the Tribune for highlighting issues of broken paving stones and unswept leaves, which are providing trip hazards on the Elthorne estate in Archway.

In the case of Sylvie Harkington, whose fall, causing serious injury, was featured in an article (Who did that to you? Only a pile of leaves, November 26), she has now been visited at home by Sandra Bailey, from Homes for Islington (HfI), who has listened sympathetically to her plight and is investigating the case.

HfI has assured me it will be taking urgent steps to remedy the defects identified.

I will be making sure that HfI holds to that promise, and will continue to take up residents’ complaints in the meantime.
