Demand for school places has been unprecedented
Published: 17 December, 2010
• I WRITE to reassure readers that we are dealing with the unprecedented demand we have had for school places in Westminster (Wanted: a place in school for 364 kids, December 10).
In the last five years we’ve had to find places for an extra 569 pupils.
I would like to stress, however, that support and advice is being given to all families seeking a school place and key workers have been assigned to each family to help them through this process.
To provide a longer term solution to the increased demand for school places in Westminster, we are supporting ARK in establishing a new primary school in the north of the borough as well as asking government that sufficient funding is made available so we can meet this increased demand.
