Charity jump hits heights
Published: 16 December, 2010
• I AM delighted that generous New Journal readers and employees of Camden Council joined together to sponsor our parachute jump in aid of your Christmas hamper appeal.
We have raised a whopping £4,100 which will help those within the borough who cannot afford the additional costs of the festive period.
Conquering our fears by jumping out of a plane at 13,000ft on a cold December morning was not easy but knowing that we’ve raised such a large amount is a wonderful feeling.
It’s not too late for readers of the paper to contribute to the appeal by sending a cheque direct to this paper.
Every penny will help those on low incomes who may not have the support many of us take for granted at this time of year.
The Mayoress Amy Lamé and I would like to take this opportunity to wish all readers of the New Journal a Merry Christmas and hope that 2011 is a peaceful year.
CLLR JONATHAN SIMPSON
Mayor of the London Borough of Camden
