• AS the Tory doctrine favours out-sourcing, why has it entered into competition with the cycle hire company at Gabriel’s Wharf on the South Bank?

London’s 33 borough chiefs should challenge spending £140million on setting up the Transport for London cycle scheme, and consider surcharging Boris Johnson for wasting council taxpayers’ money. The bus and Tube services benefit all but the bikes serve only a minority. Leave such schemes to the capitalist private sector.
