Wrong report

Published: 13 August, 2010

• I WISH to point out the following inaccuracies in the article Keep the flowers – but not at our expense (August 6).

The telephone interview leading to this article took place with myself and not my brother, Jack Morris. My brother Jack is chairman of Business Design Centre Group Ltd, which owns Business Design Centre.

Jack is also chairman of City North Islington Ltd, the company involved in the regeneration scheme at Finsbury Park.

This major regeneration scheme, for which planning consent was given in March this year, is a mix-use development involving 355 residential flats, retail units, restaurants and offices.

In my telephone interview, I did not speak out against the proposal to make savings of £140,000 or £35,000 towards hanging flower baskets. Your reporter merely asked for my views on the removal of the hanging baskets, which I said was disappointing in light of the regenerative effect they have for the area.

I am chair of Finfuture, not Finsbury Park Business Forum. Courtney Bailey is chair of Finsbury Park Business Forum. These are two distinct organisations.

Finally, I am not the chair of the Appeal Committee of Islington Giving. My brother Jack is the chair.

This level of incorrect information creates confusion and misunderstanding, not only for me but also Jack, Finfuture and Finsbury Park Business Forum.

PAUL MORRIS
Chair, FinFuture
