Shelter is good value

• I CANNOT understand why Islington Council does not get behind organisations such as Shelter from the Storm (Homeless hostel in search of shelter from the storm, July 30). 

You could not get a more cost-effective organisation, considering that the employees work on a voluntary basis. How much do other suppliers of such services charge when you take into consideration their management costs?          

The council needs to start concentrating on cost-effective provision considering there is not that much cash, if any, in the public purse.
