Regime’s true colours

Published: 13 August, 2010

• UNLIKE Jan Whelan (Change the tune, Terry, August 6), I want my councillor to hold the Labour council to account for the decisions it will be making in our name.

Islington has never been in such a good state. Thousands of our street lights have been replaced, miles of roads and pavements have been renewed and our parks have undergone a major renaissance under the Liberal Democrats, all without a penny from her “blessed” Labour government.

Islington, like all public services, now has to deal with the £903billion debt the Labour government left the country.

We have already seen Labour’s true colours now it is installed in the Town Hall. It voted against plans to cut allowances, axed our much-loved hanging baskets, refused to cut council propaganda and allocated more than £3.5million to its pet projects while cutting jobs

It is installing highly-paid spin doctors at the Town Hall. Jobs for the boys or what?

Someone needs to hold the council to account, so carry on is what I say.!
