Join debate on housing

• WHY does Camden Council send threatening court action letters, costing £20 each, to elderly leaseholders to collect an erroneously outstanding £27 on their service charge account?
Why does it take over seven months for the council to replace a faulty boiler in a vulnerable disabled tenant’s home?
Is Camden’s tenant participation strategy improving the way the council delivers services for our residents?
As chair of the housing scrutiny committee in the council, these are the kind of questions I am asked frequently.
If you are a tenant or leaseholder representative living in Camden, you have the chance to join the scrutiny committee and ask these questions directly to senior councillors and officers.
This was our election pledge and we are now recruiting three co-opted members.
We are also inviting tenants and leaseholders to give evidence to the panels we have set up to deal with these issues.
For more information on joining the committee or to give evidence to the panels please write to me at: Member Services, London Borough of Camden, Town Hall, Judd Street, London WC1H 9JE or you can email me at meric.apak@camden. gov.uk.
Deadline for co-optee applications is September 6 at noon.
CLLR MERIC APAK
Chair of Housing Scrutiny Committee
