Staff help
Published: 1 April, 2010
• I AM an employee at Marks and Spencer, Camden Town.
After reading your article about Jennyfer Spencer, (‘When you read this, I’ll be dead’, March 25) our store has decided to help raise funds to give Alex, as we knew her, a proper send-off.
Alex has been one of our regular customers for many years.
But she wasn’t just a customer, she was a loving friend to many of the staff members and customers and when we saw your front-page article about her death many of us were deeply saddened.
Over the weekend we have been collecting funds to contribute to the funds that her neighbours are trying to raise.
I have put up posters around the store and collection buckets so not only staff but customers can contribute, as Alex meant a lot to us and it is only right that she is given the burial she deserves.
We are hoping to raise more money over the coming week.
Many of my colleagues would like to attend her funeral and say our final goodbyes.
Thank you so much for honouring her wishes by publishing her story and I hope that Marks and Spencer Camden Town can do as much as possible to give Alex, a friend to all, the best send-off possible.
