Security and rents

• I WAS furious to read that Glenda Jackson’s suggestion that a future Conservative government will end security of tenure for council tenants and hike up their rents.
This is blatantly untrue as Grant Shapps MP, the Conservative housing minister, told an audience in Belsize.
When there is general distrust about the political system it is an appalling state of affairs when an MP should spread malicious rumours about what another political party intends to do.
