Problems on estate continue to escalate

Published: 8 April, 2010

• I HAVE lived in the Regent’s Park ward in Camden for 25 years but over the last three I have noticed a deterioration in the services offered.
We recently had a leaflet through our letterbox from the Tory party. It stated that residents have told them that lift repairs and community safety are real concerns. It must be election time, that’s why we get these sort of leaflets, otherwise we never get any contact from the Liberal Democrats or Tories.
They have a real nerve. They have been in control of the council since May 2006 and we have severe problems with lifts. Sometimes the elderly residents cannot leave their homes because the lifts do not work and they can’t use the stairs.
We have the drug dealers and users using our stairs as lavatories and places for them to vomit on. We had a cctv camera but that has been ripped out and this bank holiday weekend the rubbish bins have not been collected and it is like living in a trash estate.
The recent cuts to the regular caretaking service has made matters worse.
Instead of trying to tell us what the concerns are they should get on and deal with them.
