Poor value

• IN response to the letters (Communal areas are never done and Caretakers not what they were, April 1), these issues are all too common now front-line caretakers have basically been eradicated.
Yes, the communal areas have been awarded to the private contractor Veolia, who visit our estates on a weekly basis, yet we are informed by the Town Hall the service still offers value for money for the residents.
Who’s to blame? Maybe the secret bonus squad of our Town Hall whose salaries are obscene. Deletion of some of these posts could provide the front-line service, like the caretakers, with additional staff needed to maintain the service.
Salaries of this scale will continue unless us the residents make the council accountable for wasting public funds .
Otherwise it’s us, the residents, who will have to suffer the continued cutbacks of our services.
