Politicians united

Published: 8 April, 2010

• AS the election campaign gathers steam and our politicians put forth their cases to the electorate, I would like to highlight how recently all the main parties have been able to come together to make a very positive contribution when it has truly mattered for Camden.
As some your readers may recall, several of our youth leaders were harassed by the security service and their cases were publicised in the press. It was a welcome and important show of unity that Keith Moffitt (Lib Dem), Andrew Marshall (Conservative) and Nasim Ali (Labour) came along with me to speak to those responsible for the oversight of our security services. Together we highlighted the excellent track record of social cohesion in Camden and the importance of using legal and measured tactics that do not alienate communities.
Alex Goodman (Green Party) also supported these young men publicly and many of these meetings could not have taken place without the lobbying of Frank Dobson MP. Thank you to all of them.
