Overgrown with weeds

Published: 9 April, 2010

• WE have called on Westminster City Council to “get a move on” with the long-delayed rebuilding of Broadley Gardens which has been closed for more than a year, depriving families of one of the few green spaces in this heavily built-up area south of Church Street market.
The city council promised the rebuilt Broadley Gardens would be open again by this summer, but the gardens are still boarded up and there is no evidence of any work being done.
The council has abandoned Broadley Gardens and allowed it to become derelict, neglected and overgrown with weeds. There are so few places in Church Street for children to play and for older people to sit and now the council has broken its promise to reopen the garden by the summer. We have had one delay after another and excuse after excuse, but nothing happens. We will not give up on our fight to get work started soon.
