Makeover stresses

Published: 1 April, 2010

• IF anyone out there has any sense they won’t let contractors in to do any makeover to their property, unless they get a cast iron guarantee of the work, how long it will take, and the level of disruption.
And see the fittings to be installed long beforehand.
Our estate had a makeover some while ago and it was the most stressful and disruptive time I can recall. The contract was months late in starting, and virtually all of the work done was sub-standard.
Paint peeled off from balconies the following day, and old wiring was left hanging. It’s still there, even though I’ve asked the council to remove it numerous times. Most of the work had to be put right.
Many tenants are made to feel as though we should be lucky anything at all is done.
