Holiday penalties

Published: 8 April, 2010

• I AM outraged that Camden have penalised motorists for parking on a single yellow line on a bank holiday Monday.
As a long-term resident of the borough I have always taken the greatest care to observe and comply with the borough’s rigorous parking regulations.
On a few occasions I have been wrongly penalised and after much letter writing, usually involving Frank Dobson our MP, have finally been r-imbursed the monies that were improperly extracted.
Today ,April 5, I with many other innocent motorists, received a fixed penalty notice for parking “in a restricted street during prescribed hours”. The time of the alleged offence 9.40am.
Since when did prescribed hours be effective on a bank holiday?
I know, for example, that the outer and inner circle of Regent’s Park charge on bank holidays, but I have never heard of enforcing parking restrictions on a single yellow line on an bank holiday before.
Have Camden changed the rules? If so, how are we supposed to know?
