Get a grip of knife crime
Published: 23 April, 2010
• WHAT a shocking week for knife crime! (Outpouring of grief for soccer Sam, April 16). Not only did we have the front-page article on the murder of Sam Fitzgerald, but also three more accounts of stabbings during a football match in Finsbury Park, outside a takeaway in Rosebery Avenue and at a bus stop in Archway. This sounds like a knife crimewave.
Clearly, all the costly initiatives and fine words of local government officials and police are not having much of an impact on the streets of our borough. Until young men fear the consequences of carrying a knife far more than the consequences of not carrying a knife, this weekly catalogue of assaults will only get worse. Please, can our competing local politicians get a grip of this appalling situation?
