Floored by such waste

COULD someone explain to me why, in this time of belt tightening, Islington Council is replacing perfectly sound pavements in Upper Street with expensive, faux York stone. 

Surely, the ­money would have been much better spent on mending the potholes that plague the borough. Oh, I’ve just thought, it must have been to complement the new paving surrounding the Town Hall, another example of spending money where it’s least needed.
