Cracks
Published: 29 April, 2010
• WE were very concerned, as were many residents who have been in touch with us, following your article on the possible blighting by cracks and leaks in walls and roofs of residents’ properties if plans to build a high-speed rail tunnel 20 metres under Primrose Hill go ahead (Cracks in High Speed Rail Vision, April 22)
We find these proposals not only rushed but inadequate and unacceptable. We hope to work with all elements of the community in a non-partisan manner and fight against these proposals.
It is true Britain could benefit from a high speed train network, particularly to help bring about a reduction in the harmful number of short-haul flights within our country. But let’s be clear: there are extremely serious questions on why the High Speed 2 track could not be built beneath existing train lines, questions about the possible route the line would take, questions about the consultation deadline of May 20 and questions on the possible abolition of 350 council homes in nearby Regent’s Park.
The process thus far has been severely lacking.
The community and all residents in Primrose Hill deserve some answers.”
