Corin’s quiet strengths

• JOHN Gulliver’s was an excellent tribute to Corin Redgrave in his column last week (De Profundis, at the loss of a great actor).
I met him in 1970 at the Dublin Castle, Parkway, when, along with Bernadette Devlin, Dominic Behan, Hugh MacDiarmid, we performed in aid of Frank Roche and the Irish Political Detainees Defence Fund. I imagine that appearance went straight onto his file somewhere down Whitehall way.
John Gulliver rightly says that Corin Redgrave was a talented, quiet and unassuming man and as a strong trade unionist.
I feel he would have been amused to see a radical nature cell in Iceland declare its support for BA cabin crews against Willie Walsh.
