BT’s tower of light can lift our spirits

• ANDREW Fagg would be one of very few people who finds the BT Tower’s advertising banner irritating (BT Tower advertising blights the night sky, April 2).
I live off Euston Road and I can also see it from my low-rise housing association block.
During Advent and Christmas, I saw snowflakes and “Merry Christmas” spelled out on it, and found it consoling and spirit-lifting in long, dark and cold winter evenings.
On the other hand, the empty land behind the British Library, which is right next to our block, used to be floodlit at night as bright as day so that girls and boys could come out to play baseball there.
My bamboo blinds were not good enough to shut out the bright lights and it was very annoying.
Fortunately it was dimmed when the prefab Channel Tunnel Rail Link offices ceased to exist.
My advice to Mr Fagg, who lives in Hackney, is please stop looking out of windows and draw curtains.
