Action for gardens

Published: 23 April, 2010

• BROADLEY Gardens is still closed and there are no signs of any activity.
However, we have just heard that work will start during April – a sudden burst of action because there is an election?
Completion date is promised for the end of August.
That means that another summer has been missed.
Westminster City Council promised the gardens would reopen last summer!
They said they had funding in place, even though London mayor Boris Johnson failed to come up with a hoped-for £400,000 grant.
Recently an extra £100,000 was committed by a developer as “planning gain”.
So why the delay?
Was the money spent elsewhere?
Don’t the Conservatives understand how vital Broadley Gardens is to all local residents in the Church Street area?
Do they care or even understand?
